This is the journal of Danny McLaughlin based on the epic tale of Black River

Deep beneath the streets of Boston lies a dark secret that only few people know about, yet it affects the entire metropolitan community. Some say it is superstition, where others claim its Old Wives Tales from the immigrants that came through the old ports. Everyone has heard stories and tales, and its the job for a few well trained agents to make sure that the reality never sees the light of day.

They call it, The Rift.

A supernatural tear in the fabric of reality that allows things to pass into our realm of being. For centuries this rift has been slowly opening, unchecked. Some say the Native Americans were the last guardians of The Rift, and that the reason they fought so hard when the Settlers came was not only to try and defend their land, but to protect the horrible secret that lay deep within the soil where the ignorant White Man built their Capital city. It has only been within the last few decades that the Government has located the source of the disturbances that have plagued the Northeast for hundreds of years.

Enter the clandestine group called: Black River

Using unknown technology, The Rift has been successfully clamped and is now monitored for any disturbances that slip through. The Rift is by no means closed. Therefore through diligence and preservation, Black River uses its resources to battle those entities that slip through The Rift and maintain the peace for the rest of the Boston community that lives day to day in blissful ignorance.

Renee Magdalen Martinique
Primary Watch Commander

Not much is known about Renee, even to her own personnel. Currently she leads Black River, whether this means leader of the Boston branch or leader of all of Black River is still unclear.


Danny McLaughlin
Chief Investigator, Boston branch

In his late 50's Danny started his career as a beat cop on the Boston Police force. Through hard work and dillegence, he rose in rank and responsibility. This did not go unnoticed, however, as the FBI soon propositioned him for a job. After many cases, some good some bad, Danny had his eye on retirement when an interesting proposition came across his desk in the form of a glossy black card with an embossed river icon. The number found on the back proved to be the key to saving not only his home town, but his life from a retirement that had no future in his eyes.


Enet Tyn
Security/armory control

In the eyes of Danny, Enet is a psychopath. Currently responsible for the Security of the Black River Facility and Armory, Enet has proved that you can be a beit mental and still do a good job. However there are a few convinced that she has a teddy bear tucked away that she sleeps with, that is made of gun metal.


Azure
ESP Intelligence Agent
A young hippy chick that thinks that the whole world is there to be saved. The reality of the situation has yet to unfold upon these young eyes. A budding psychic, Azure and shown value to the group by lending her eyes to see that which cannot be seen by those without the gift.


Tobias Wylden
Master Archivist
If there is information to be found, Tobias is the man to find it. Whether information be in book or online, his ability to datamine surpasses belief at times.


Ryan McGomery
Vehicle & Weapons R&D Coordinator
Relatively new to the group, Ryan as taken up residence in the base garage. Handy with tools and upgrades to our current equipment, Ryan is showing promise that may prove to be beneficial to the team.


Benjamin Sparrow
Forensics Specialist
Considered the new kid on the team, Ben has yet to show his true colors. More to come.
